Objectives

The objectives of this two days course are to provide deep awareness and understanding of industry trends, international good practices in relation to Financial Crime Risk (FCR) from a practitioner approach. This training has been geared toward the already competent financial service sector leaders and organisations in Mauritius.

The course amongst others will cover key risks, controls, and compliance maturity modelling for all aspects of FCR, and case studies relevant to Mauritius.

AML, Compliance and Risk professionals, MLROs, members of the internal audit function, Senior managers and top management and other staffs with client facing responsibilities where financial crime is a real and active risk.

About the trainers

John Burrow

John Burrow spent 30 years in commercial, retail and offshore banking before joining HM Revenue & Customs Criminal Investigation where he worked as a Specialist Financial Investigator for 12 years specialising in the regulated sector and offshore matters. He is an Associate Consultant of the UK College of Policing (formerly NPIA) and for 10 years he has taught on the Enhanced Financial Investigation Skills course. John is also an Expert Witness in money laundering matters. He has delivered seminars and courses relating to money laundering in offshore jurisdictions to law enforcement and AML multi agency representatives in foreign jurisdictions. His specialist skills and knowledge include the interpretation of complex financial structures to facilitate money movements through financial institutions, alternative banks and offshore trusts.

Mark Winters

Mark Winters is a former specialist U.K. Police Officer, Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and industry FCR leader. He has worked with leading international firms including: Bank of America Corp; Lloyds Banking Group; Barclays, City Bank, Travelex; Centrica; Ernst & Young; KPMG; and a number of Middle East based banks. More recently, Mark has conducted a number of high profile and complex FCR investigations and undertaken civil & criminal dispute resolution cases for clients. Mark is a specialist in the design and enhancement of strategies that can be easily implemented by financial services firms to mitigate all aspects of FCR. This includes leading technological solutions around behavioural analytics and machine learning.

Costs

We are delighted to offer this two days’ workshop at an attractive rate of Rs 20,000 per participant. MQA approval is under process and participants will be eligible for HRDC refund up to 60%, bringing the effective cost down to Rs 8,000.
