With over 23 years’ experience as a professional banker with extensive exposure in Mauritius & India region, along with rich experience of African markets, Sridhar has built expertise in all facets of banking across Asia and Africa. With an MBA in Finance & Marketing and a degree in engineering, he held several senior business roles, including as a CEO for 10 years, with a successful track record as a pragmatic banker, a people focussed leader, a strategic thinker and a turnaround expert.

While he spent a better part of his career with Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) and most recently with MauBank, Mauritius, his initial 5 years of banking were with Global Trust Bank, ANZ Grindlays and Credit Lyonnais. In his stint at SCB, he was a senior Corporate & Institutional Banker, a franchise builder with leadership in strategic acquisitions for the Bank in India.

He was appointed the Chief Executive Officer, SCB Mauritius, to transform the franchise from an India-centric Offshore Booking Centre to a full-fledged banking entity. He formulated and implemented a comprehensive strategy and converted it to a full-fledged international franchise with an Africa focus. The business grew manifold during his 7-year tenure into the third largest bank in Mauritius.

In 2015, he took over as CEO of ailing state-owned bank MPCB and merged it with another nationalised bank NCB to form MauBank, with a combined loss of about USD 50 M and turned them to profitability in two years.

He has held several roles to contribute to the industry growth agenda in Mauritius. He was instrumental in joining forces with key stakeholders to set-up Global Finance Mauritius, the apex industry body for the global business sector and was the vice chairman of GFM in its formative years. He chaired the SME Equity Fund Ltd, a joint venture between Banks and the Government to support equity flows into deserving SME’s and was the Chairman of the Mauritius Banking Association’s committee on SME Development and International Banking at different periods. He was part of the Industry – University Liaison Advisory Committee of the University of Mauritius and part of the Advisory Board of Amity Global University, Mauritius.

He is a keen golfer and a long-distance runner. His other hobbies include reading on diverse topics, gardening and chess. He lives in Mauritius with his wife and their two daughters.
