Governor hints at review of banking laws at an advanced stage

The Bank of Mauritius (BoM) Governor Mr. Yandraduth Googoolye has urged banking supervisors to avail of opportunities offered by the Knowledge Management Centre housing periodicals, financial magazines, books, and journals. The aim is to equip supervisors’ with the ability to brace over challenges set against the ever-growing complexity of the financial, regulatory and supervisory world. He was speaking during the seminar Core Elements of Banking Supervision organised by AFRITAC South. The Governor emphasised on the review of banking laws reaching an advanced stage at the BoM level where an IMF Technical Assistance Mission will help finalise the legislation, encompassing the aspect on crisis resolution.
